FM149 Sympathy Flower

Today at The Friday Mashup Cindy has a fabulous challenge for us.

I tried and tried to make a monochromatic card but was not happy with any of my attempts. So I had to opt with making a card without mashing up the challenges. Sorry Cindy!!!

Here's this weeks Friday Mashup Challenge:

1. Create a project that's monochromatic
2. Create a project with flowers
3. Mash it up and create a monochromatic project with flowers.

I hope you will play along with us!

FM148 Hexagons and Triangles

Hello and Happy Friday. I apologize for not posting this week but things are certainly busy around here. I have never spent so much time with my family but I have certainly been enjoying the time together.

This week Lynda's challenge stumped me. I was talking with my partner and I told him about the challenge and said I had no idea what to do. His simple answer "You can use triangles and hexagons on a bird house card". *ding ding ding* The lights went on and I went to work. I am so glad I have such a brilliant partner!

I LOVE how my card turned out. I cannot wait to give it away and see the smile spread across my mom's face.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:

1. Create a project with "Hexagons".
2. Create a project with "Triangles".
3. Create a project using "Hexagons" & "Triangles"

Wondering were the sentiment came from?

I created the sentiment with MDS and printed it!!!! Thank you MDS!!!

Are you wondering how I did the birds eye?

To create all the dimension in the roof, bird house and bird I sponged around the edges using the same color of the card stock. It really helps to make everything pop.

FM147 - First Time for Everything

This week at The Friday Mashup I had an opportunity to make a sketch. Often I look for sketches to inspire my cards and making a sketch was something new for me. To make things easier I make my card first and then created a sketch.

I love how versatile the sketch is, you can use any shape for your card.

Please join us over at The Friday Mashup. I am looking forward to seeing what you create.

1. Create a project using the sketch above
2. Create a project with Spritzing / Splattering
3. Mash it up and create a project using the Sketch and Spritzing / Splattering

What to Say, but I love you!

I have been going back and forth for a few days now on what I should share about my weekend. I don't know who reads my blog and who I would be sharing my story with. I struggle because part of the story is mine to share but part of it is not.

I spent last weekend visiting someone very close to me in the hospital. They spent the weekend in the hospital because the staff were trying to fit them in for emergency surgery (all this was very fast and no one expected them to be in the hospital). As it turns out the surgery they needed to schedule is much longer than they could fit in in an emergency. They got to go home on Sunday and I will be embracing every moment I get to spend with them up until March 3rd, when they have their surgery.

I know they have an amazing chance of survival but somehow you can't help but wonder about the worst case scenario. However, in order to keep their sprits up I created a card for them. I can't stop looking at the photo of this card as it makes me smile.

Thank you Debra Currier for the inspiration, I almost CASED your card completely.

As you will notice with the Just Sayin' stamp set the bubble and greeting doesn't actually look like that. What I did was used my markers on the stamp to get the bubble and then with my Stamp-a-ma-Jig and coloring the Love Ya I was able to get the different sentiment inside the bubble. This way the pointy part of the bubble is facing the right way for the hedgehog.

Stampset: Just Sayin', Life in the Forest
Paper: Whisper White, Gumball Green, Strawberry Slush
Ink: Staz on, Basic Black Marker, Strawberry Slush Marker, Baked Brown Sugar Marker, Crumb Cake Marker
Punches: Heart Punch
Bigshot: Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder
Accessories: Basic Rhinestone

PPA190 Ikat Awesome Thanks

I have an extra post for you today. I made these cards last week and I wanted to make sure I get to submit them into the PPA Color Challenge

I had just finished making my card in Strawberry Slush and Coastal Cabana but then came across the color challenge at PPA and when I seen the color challenge I had to remake the card in their colors. I have never been one for blushing bride but PPA's color combo is awesome!!!

I love the new "Eye-Catching Ikat" stamp set. It is perfect for making your own DSP. It is also super simple to use because you can see right though the stamp so it is easy to line up your stamp!!!

My original card:

Stampset: Eye-Catching Ikat Photopolymer, Yippee-Skippee!
Paper: Coastal Cabana, Strawberry Slush, Basic Black
Ink: Coastal Cabana, Strawberry Slush, Basic Black
Punches: Decorative Label

My card with the PPA colors:

Stampset: Eye-Catching Ikat Photopolymer, Yippee-Skippee!
Paper: Basic Grey, Rose Red, Blushing Bride
Ink: Basic Grey, Rose Red, Blushing Bride
Punches: Decorative Label
Accessories: Basic Rhinestones

Thank you PPA for your inspiration!

You & Me Card Swap Creation

Wow! What a whirl wind of a weekend! I have some personal things to share but I think I will leave that for Wednesday, provided I have time to edit the photo of the card I want to share with you.

For now I have this card fantastic card to share, which I created a while but had to hold off on sharing it.

I created this card for a swap I joined with my Upline. When I created the first card I didn't think it would be that hard to make 17 more (11 for my upline swap and 7 for my monthly swap with other ladies). However, popping out all the holes in my framelit for the negatives and all the bigshotting I did proved to be much more time consuming than I imagined.

However, I loved how the card turned out and in fact my partner really loved it. He is very good about asking to see what i have created and always tells me they are great but he seemed really excited about this card.

I really wanted to share it with you much sooner, as I created it back in early January but I had to wait until everyone received their cards. No one wants to spoil the surprise...

FM146 Love you a latte!

It's Friday!!! That means we have another fantastic challenge of at Friday Mashup!

This week Tara gave us a great color combination to work with. She also added in the challenge of creating a 3D Paper Peicing project. I looked through all my stampsets and this was the only one I felt I would be able to paper piece with. Unfortuantly only the hearts are 3D.

After seeing all the wonderful creations from the team I think I want to give this a try again. They used stampsets I had but never thought could work for this technique!

Tara had a great tip for using Stampin' Up!'s coaster board. I wish I had thought of that!!
I used dimentionals but it just doesn't give it the same wow factor.

1. Create a project with "Cherry Cobbler, Primrose Petals, Soft Sky & Marina Mist."
2. Create a project using "3-D Paper Piecing"
 3. Or Mash it Up and create a "3-D Paper Piecing Project with the above Colors."

Stampset: Pun Fun (Retired)
Paper: Whisper White, Marine Mist, Cherry Cobbler, Primrose Petals, Soft Sky, Regals DSP Stack, Subltes DSP Stack, In Color 2012-2014 DSP Stack

Bigshot: Circle Framelits
Tools: Paper Snips
Accessories: In Color Dahlias, Primrose Petals 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon

I used a sketch from Mojo Monday, which I found on my Card Sketches Pinterest Board.

Bow Tie Birthday

I love how simple this card is to make. Yet it is perfectly masculine!

It is a direct case from this years catalogue on page 14.

I want to get this post up quickly before I get busy for the day. If you have questions on how to make the bow let me know and I will update the post with the details.

Happy Stamping!!!

Happy Birthday Catalogue CASE

I simply love how this card turned out. It is even more stunning in person. The best part is how super easy it was to create!

First I went to the catalogues for inspiration. This card was from a catalogue a few years ago, I believe (created this card a few weeks ago. Sorry for the lack of information).

I stamped the background with the Positively Chevron background stamp. Next I stamped the Birthday image in smokey slate then cut it out with the framelits. I then paper pierced around the circle and adhered it to the smokey slate circle. Then I adhered the circle to the card (no dimentionals were used in this card). Next you adhere the scalloped trim and then the ribbon. The flower was adhered with glue dots. Lastly I stamped and cut out the Happy Birthday using my markers and glued it on top of the basic grey sentiment.

The trick to the ribbon was to take a tiny bit of Crystal Effects to the end of the ribbon. This stops the ribbon from fraying and you don't have to wrap the ribbon around the card and have it show on the inside.

I hope you had a happy Monday!
