FM 161 Trees and Embossing

Good Morning. Today I have another Friday Mashup card for you. Sara's challenge seemed perfect for a Father's day card. I felt so unprepared for Mother's day this year and was scrambling to make cards this year I am starting early for Father's day cards.

Here's this weeks challenge at The Friday Mashup:

1. Create a project with "Trees".
2. Create a project with "Heat or Dry Embossing".

3. Or Mash it up and create a project with "Embossing and Trees".

I created two cards because I wasn't sure which colors I liked better.

On my first card I used Pool Party and Pear Pizzazz.

On my second card I used Marina Mist and Wild Wasabi.

You can't see it in the photos but I heat embossed the trees and the sentiment.

To get the background strips of color I used the Painters Tape technique. All you do is take some painters tape and lay the sticky side down on your ink pad. Rub the tape so it will pick up the ink. Then you lay it on your paper and rub one more time. Peel the tape off and you are done! I love how the texture is uneven and you never get the same design twice. Tip: Only use painters tape. It is less sticky than other tape so it won't stick to your paper.

Stampset: Delightful Dozen, Lovely as a Tree
Paper: Very Vanilla, Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist
Ink: Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist, Versa Mark
Bigshot: Top Note, Square Lattice
Tools: Heat Tool, Painters Tape
Accessories: Black Embossing Powder

  1. Oooh, I love what you have done with the background! So clever. I always forget to use the Top Note die...!

  2. Oh, I love both of your cards, Avery! I was on the verge of Painter's tape for a project this week and went another route but now I can't wait to do this- so cool! Love the lattice embossing, too!

  3. Avery, you've made two wonderful Father's Day cards. I'm not sure which color combo I like best though, but I think both are great. I need to get busy like you and get my Father's Day card DONE...not to mention all the open house cards I need to make. One of these days I need to give the painter's tape technique a try. Hmm...maybe for my next stamp. :)
